The Worship Committee consists of the Rector and representatives of the Lay Readers and Communion Assistants, the Choir Director and Choir, Acolytes, Ushers, Altar Guild, Sunday School and the Laity.
The mission of the Worship Committee is to focus on corporal worship for Sunday and mid-week services, and also other liturgies; to facilitate individual spiritual devotion and education; and to meet the wants and needs of those groups within the committee.
The committee held two meetings through the fall. The first meeting was in early September to discuss and plan the fall calendar. The second meeting was held in November to plan the Advent and Christmas liturgies. A third meeting is planned for February 13, 2000 to plan the Lent and Easter season.
One Lay Reader and Acolyte training session was held this fall. Lay Readers now use an introductory sentence before each scripture reading to summarize the meaning of the lesson. Several new young people have become acolytes this past year.
The Worship Committee plans to use the first year to explore and experiment with different liturgies. With Fr. Mark's guidance, it is the committees's hope to establish a yearly worship calendar that reflects the historical beauty of our faith and the ever changing needs of our congregation.
